What we collect,
and what we don't.

• Reading the site requires no account and no sign-in.
• We measure how pages are used, with IP addresses stored only as a one-way hash.
• If you write to us, we keep what you sent so we can reply.
• Google Analytics runs only if you accept it. Decline and no analytics cookies are set.
• We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising.

The contact form records the name, email address, phone number, subject and message you enter, together with the IP address and browser user-agent of the submission. The last two exist to help us deal with spam and abuse.

The feedback widget records your message, the page you sent it from, your browser and device type, an IP address, and an email address if you choose to supply one.

We use all of this to respond to you and to fix what you reported. Nothing else.

We record how articles are used so we can tell what is worth writing more of. Each record holds a randomly generated session identifier, the language you were reading in, the referring page, how far you scrolled, and how long you stayed.

IP addresses in this stream are stored as a one-way hash, never in the clear. The session identifier is not linked to a name, and searches you run on the site are logged as the query text alone.

This site can run Google Analytics 4, which sets cookies in your browser and sends usage data — including your IP address — to Google. That processing is governed by Google’s own privacy terms, and we use it only in aggregate to understand which pages are worth writing more of.

It does not run until you say yes. On your first visit a banner asks, and analytics storage stays switched off until you accept it. If you decline, or simply ignore the banner, no analytics cookies are set at all. Your choice is remembered in your own browser; clearing site data resets it and you will be asked again.

You can also block it with any tracker-blocking extension or through Google’s own opt-out. Nothing on this site stops working if you do. We set no advertising cookies of our own and run no ad network.

Account registration is closed while the seva features are being built, so we are not currently collecting phone numbers or creating logins. When it opens, sign-in will use a one-time code sent to a phone number, and this page will be updated to describe exactly what that stores before it goes live.

There is no payment processing on this site. We do not collect card details or take donations here.

We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for advertising. It reaches:

• Google, through Analytics, as described above.
• Our hosting and infrastructure providers, who store the data on our behalf.
• Anyone we are legally required to disclose it to.

Content you submit for publication — a temple correction, a photograph — is intended to be public. Your contact details are not published with it.

Messages you send are kept while we deal with them and for a reasonable period afterwards, so we have context if you write again. Usage records are kept in aggregate to track how the site is used over time. Where information supports a verification decision, it is retained as part of that record’s history — the audit trail is the point, and deleting it would undo it.

Write to us through the contact form and you can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. We will act on it, and tell you if some part has to be retained and why.

Because reading is anonymous, we usually cannot connect usage records to a person — which means that for most visitors there is nothing on file to find in the first place.

Parts of the learning hub are written for children, but they are meant to be read, not signed up for. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal details, tell us and we will remove them.
