Answers

1. 1.Timekeeping. Fixing the correct moments for Vedic ritual. Personal prediction came much later (Lesson 1).
2. 2.The gap between the sidereal and tropical zodiacs, currently about 24°, caused by precession. It usually moves your Sun back one sign (Lesson 1).
3. 3.Siddhanta (mathematical astronomy), Samhita (mundane), Hora (individual). This course is Hora, specifically Jataka (Lesson 3).
4. 4.Mercury, in Virgo (Lesson 5).
5. 5.A nakshatra is 13°20'; a pada is 3°20' (Lesson 7).
6. 6.Kendras 1, 4, 7, 10; trikonas 1, 5, 9. The 1st is in both — part of why the lagna dominates (Lesson 9).
7. 7.About two hours. It sets the entire house structure, so a two-hour error rebuilds the chart (Lesson 8).

15. 15.Checking a reading against three dated events already known to have happened, via the dasha running at each. It is the most useful check because the past can contradict you and the future cannot (Lesson 31).

Scoring yourself

Count only answers you got substantially right without looking. Twelve or more, and the mechanics are solid. Below eight, the most efficient fix is to reread Lessons 5 to 9 — nearly every later lesson is built on them.
